Bellerophon riding Pegasus

Pegasus[]

Origin/ description-

Pegasus was a winged horse who was a good flyer and a great companion. Pegasus & his brother were the sons of Medusa and Poseidon. They were conceived when Poseidon was in the form of a horse or bird. They were born from Medusa’s blood when she was beheaded by Perseus.

Family-[]

Pegasus was son of Poseidon and Medusa, and brother of Chrysaor. He was trained by Bellerophron, and then served Zeus.

Myths-[]

Pegasus was formed by the mating of Poseidon and Medusa. Later tamed by Bellerophon, he went on many adventures, such as the slaying of Chimaera, and Bellerophons attempt to fly the winged horse to Mount Olympus. Sadly Bellerophon was dismounted by Zeus on the way up to Mount Olympus, leaving him blind and crippled for the rest of his life. Pegasus, however made it to the top and spent the rest of his days carrying lightning bolts for Zeus. Zeus later made Pegasus into a constellation. His wings mark Spring and rainy weather.
